ImageWhy do we pray? In faith, we believe God hears what we are saying, and desires to have that conversation with us.

Sometimes we too often think of prayer as a wishing station. We throw our coin in the well and wait…. impatiently, for the answer we have already prepared in advance to be the answer.

God isn’t in the business of granted wishes. He is a mighty, powerful God who desires healing and hope for all of his people. His one and only purpose is to see us all turn to him. He loves you and wants you to have all of the desires of your heart…. that is a relationship, not a fortune teller.

I say this because I think we are so use to instant gratification that even in our prayer lives we think one time praying is enough and the whole thing should be given to us, fixed, healed, battle should be over. We as a church have even taught people that there faith isn’t great enough if they keep asking, persisting in the same hope…. Do you mind if we look at what Jesus said in Luke 18:

1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

So, for those of you that feel you are nagging God for the same things…. keep it up… Jesus is looking for you of great faith!!
